Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the studio located?

Allegro Knoxville Music Studio is located in Knoxville, Tennessee at 3019 Sanders Drive, 37918. We are located right off of Broadway in Fountain City and right across from Sweet P's Uptown Corner or diagonally across from Pratts Market.  We are close to many wonderful stores and restaurants.

What can I expect at lessons?

We provide fun, engaging music instruction to all ages and abilities. We use engaging materials, music, and games for our students during lessons to help reinforce the musical concepts being taught. We want to develop a lifelong love of music and desire regarding learning and playing music!

How long are lessons, and how often do they take place?

Most students take lessons once a week for 30 minutes. Some of our more advanced students take an hour lesson. We offer lessons during the school year as well as the summer.

What ages do you teach?

Our preschool "Zumbini" classes start as young as infants.  Our regular music lessons depend on the instrument.  For example: Piano starts as young as four.  We teach all ages and abilities!  It is never too late to begin learning.  We have lots of beginning adults taking lessons.

What is the best age to start lessons?

That depends upon the student. Our preschoolers are ready if they can recognize their numbers 1-5 and the first seven letters of the alphabet.

Do I need a keyboard/piano/guitar/harp etc. before lessons start?

Students do need a good quality instrument to learn on. That can actually make a huge difference in whether a student will enjoy practicing. But, come in and try up to TWO FREE LESSONS (some instructors only) first before you purchase an instrument. We can give you pointers on where to buy and what to look for in an instrument.

Do all students participate in recitals?

We encourage students to participate in a recital but they are optional.

How often will my child need to practice their instrument?

Each student commits to practicing 4-5 days a week. Practice takes twenty minutes or less for beginning students and gradually increases with experience.

What's my role as a parent?

You are your child's primary cheerleader. Students do better when parents take an active interest in their child's lessons and practicing.
